Number Frames encourages student to interact with numbers as they deepen their mathematical thinking and reasoning. Through the use of 5, 10, 20, and 100 frames, students are able to move away from one-by-one counting to recognize visually the relationship between numbers and benchmark quantities represented in the frames. Students can select a variety of counters and colors as well as annotate their work with the drawing tool.
Objective: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able manipulative the tools within the Number Frames app to demonstrate various quantities within a desired frame. Participants will be able to count, represent, compare and compute numbers using a frame.
Readiness: For resources that focus on learning to use technology and that help build the foundational technology skills needed to support the ISTE Standards.
Technological Content Knowledge:
This course provides an increased level of technological and content knowledge needed to apply technology in new ways in your classroom.
For the perfect lesson combine this with strong pedagogical practice.
The technology used in this course when implemented in a classroom lesson will not provide any functional change to the classroom. This technology serves as a direct substitute for traditional methods of content delivery, assessment and completion.
This course contains elements of curriculum around the patterns and relationships of numbers, quantities and space. The concepts of mathematics are utilized in science, engineering and technology.
